4. Participatory Writing Exercise: Short Story ‘Dystopian Vision UdK-2040’.
SHORT STORY: ‘DYSTOPIAN VISION UDK-2040’
(Focus: Public Education in Danger)
– In groups, designate a note-taker*.
– Imagine the UdK in the year 2040 and develop a dystopian narrative.
– Define the key elements that characterize that future: the artistic landscape, general atmosphere, relevant technologies, and social dynamics.
– Identify one main character or perspective for your story. This can be a student, teacher, visitor, or even an other-than-human voice such as an animal, building, instrument, or algorithm.
– Specify a central conflict that unfolds within the dynamic Oppression/Resistance.
– Collaborative Storytelling: build your story one sentence at a time. Each group member contributes one sentence, with the next person building on the last. The note-taker transcribes the story as it grows. (Suggested time: 5 minutes).
– Group Edit: as a group, review, comment on, and edit the transcribed story.
– Write the final polished text (max. 250 words).
– Prepare to share your stories aloud and reflect on them collectively.
*The note-taker’s role is to document the group’s ideas and edit the final story.
We have 25 minutes for this exercise.
