DAY’S AGENDA

1. Clarification of today’s goal: recording the soundtrack for the sonic storytelling piece we are producing.

2. Listening to a reference example recorded during the UdK Kollisionswoche, produced as part of a final sound installation.

3. Division of the group into four smaller groups. Each group works with a specific audio file to create a soundtrack inspired by last week’s Whispering Director exercise (Instruments, Morning, Afternoon, Evening).

— 2 mins per group

4. Collective recording session, bringing all groups together and recording each group one at a time.

STORYTELLING: COLLABORATIVE FUTURITY

MORNING
I wake up and look out the window, visualizing our day ahead while observing the atmosphere.

A humming X34L brings us coffee swinging through space as we watch people bike to work. We breathe in the cold air coming through the open windows as the sun almost tops the trees.

I play an old vinyl on the turntable, and during the song everyone starts dancing. We let the blood flow through our bodies.

The X34L starts lifting the dishes, we grab our bags, and hit the road.

AFTERNOON
as the sun rises
time stretches
we prepare the sets
the textiles,
softening every corner,
unfolding colors

the domes housing us creatures
once spaces where we prayed in vain,
re-direct our entangled chantings
the cocoons holding our embraces and hums
are the places where we spend the day, where the calendar renews itself

and what we today take for granted
was once a celebration that marked
a beginning
and therefore an end,
instead of a continuation

i remember how one day fireworks marked the transition
a perfect reflection they were of the kind of societies
we wanted to be,
with our rituals of explosions and fire

we lay on the floor,
thousands of us,
and because of our alignment with the rotations,
we are the first region entering the Year of the Slugs

i cannot contain myself and tears start flowing down my cheeks
my siblings stare, confused, at me,
don’t they know how fragile things used to be?

EVENING
I practice for the rest of the day and later enjoy performing in a concert. Afterward, I return home via the high-speed ocean floor train. It only takes a few hours to travel from Berlin to Brisbane. Stepping inside, I am welcomed by a warm sanctuary. I play music out loud and prepare dinner with my family, who arrived from Thessaloniki where celebrations had started earlier. We eat well and feel nourished. After playing games, we retreat to our rooms and wind down with quiet time, reading, listening to cozy beats, or reflecting on the day’s events. I feel completely at peace. Warm orange light fills the room as the sun sets. I look out the window at the vast greenery and the moon looming large in the sky. I know this view will wake me tomorrow, but for now I rest within the warm cocoon of my home.
